Quilt Preparation Requirements
Before sending your quilt top for longarm quilting, please prepare the materials using these guidelines:
-
Backing and batting must be 4" larger on all sides of the quilt top
-
Example: For a 40”x60” quilt top, your backing and batting must be 48”x68”
-
-
Press your quilt top and backing thoroughly
-
Place a safety pin at the top of both the quilt top and backing
-
Clip all loose threads from both sides
-
Square up your backing fabric
-
Do not baste, pin, or tack your quilt layers
-
Fold each piece separately (quilt top, backing, batting) — do not layer
-
Remove selvages when piecing your backing
-
Staystitch around all edges (⅛") if your top has seams along the border
-
Note: Fullness, puckering, or stretching in your top may result in visible tucks during quilting
Please make sure your contact information is included with the quilt you are sending in the mail.
